Belarus to start importing oil via Ukraine in March

Belarus hopes to pump oil through the Odessa-Brody pipeline soon, Belneftekhim Deputy Chairman Uladzimir Sizau said on February 25, BelTA informs.

The representative of the concern notes that work is currently underway to purchase alternative oil using the southern route from the Ukrainian territory.

“Deliveries via Odessa-Brody will begin soon, in March. The volume is several tankers,” said Uladzimir Sizau.

According to him, the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline will be used as the most economical, fast and reliable transport. Sizau noted that the work on acquisition of resources in the Black Sea, both of Azerbaijani production and Russian producer, is underway.

Belarus agrees on compensation for dirty oil

Deputy Chairman of Belneftekhim also spoke about signing a protocol with Russia on compensation for dirty oil. Work is currently underway to identify and confirm the compensation payments, which will eventually have to be paid to the Mazyr refinery, he added.

Sizau noted that the amount in question is similar to that of “other parties involved in the story of dirty oil” such as counterparties in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. They received compensation in the amount of $ 15 per barrel of contaminated oil.
