Belarus should join Russia -- EADaily

In the article titled “Reunification of Russia and Belarus would be a major national success” experts justify Belarus’s entry into the Russian Federation.

“As part of a huge economic system, Belarus will thrive, enjoying large scale returns. Being an outpost on the western direction, Belarus will also enjoy the benefits of this “bridge” position. There will be an organic integration of the military, political, managerial and scientific elite, and the immigrants from Belarus will, in my opinion, be able to count on significant enough careers, because they enjoy the reputation of low-corrupted workers,” noted journalist Yegor Kholmogorov.

Kholmogorov asserts that the standard of living in Russia is incomparably higher than the Belarusian one and “even Russian poverty is often better than the Belarusian average income”.

“And this is all true without saying the main thing: Belarusians and Great Russians are one people, one civilization, one faith. Our division is absolutely artificial. Separateness of Belarus leads to the invention of phantom ideologies such as “Litvinism”, a form of historical stupidity. On the contrary, the emergence of Belarus in one state with Russia will dramatically strengthen the Slavic principle, which will be beneficial for all parts of the Russian people,” the publicist believes.

Political scientist Pavel Svyatenkov believes that the entry of Belarus into Russia will be “a major national success.”

“Belarus is the result of Soviet national design, and if it is not reunited with Russia, Poland may try to make it dependent on itself, since both Ukraine and Belarus are representatives of the eastern outskirts of the medieval Polish Empire. But it is unlikely that the Belarusians want such a future for themselves,” he said.

The article was written as a response to the recent words of Alyaksandr Lukashenka that if economic problems are not solved, Belarus will be forced to join “some state”. Earlier last week, the publicist Kholmogorov published in the newspaper ‘Kultura’ a column in which he criticizes Lukashenka for lack of loyalty to Russia. In his text, he notes that Russia could support someone more pro-Russian in Belarus.

EADaily is a Russian chauvinistic media that promotes imperial ideas. The site actively supports the DPR and LPR, taking an anti-Ukrainian stance. The outlet has repeatedly published materials that described the threat of Belarusian nationalism.
