Belarus police make young man apologize for slapping monument to policeman

The Belarusian Interior Ministry has posted a video of committing a strange crime on its official Youtube channel.

It incudes CCTV footage that shows a young man walking past a monument to a Tsarist-era policeman and slapping it.

In the video, Minsk policeman Henadz Kashalyuk says that he was witnessing the actions of the violator when patrolling the streets.

“Then the offender was detained and interrogated; we made a report and handed it over to officers of Maskouski district police department,” he explains.

The policeman fails to specify which punishment he was subject to.

“Please accept my regrets for my damaging this monument and [offending] police employees. This monument has its own history; my act might have defamed it. I did not mean it; I do apologize,” the young man, whose name is reportedly Arseny, said for camera.

Both video and apology might well have been staged, Belarusian Internet users stress.
