Belarus CIS leader in meat and potatoes production


According to the latest survey of the National Statistics Committee dedicated to the World Food Day, Belarus is a meat and milk-potato empire.

At the end of 2015, Belarus was the first among the CIS countries in the potatoes, meat, milk and eggs per capita production.

About 632 kg of potatoes, 121 kg of meat, 743 liters of milk and 402 eggs — this is how much every Belarusian would have to eat, if not for export.

In the production of grain per person – 912 kg – Belarus ranks third after Ukraine (1,400 kg) and Kazakhstan (1,064 kg).

In 2015, more meat was prodeced per capita in Belarus than in Russia and Kazakhstan. In the per capita milk production, Belarus is ahead of Kazakhstan by 2.5 times, and Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Armenia and Russia by 3-3,5 times, “Belarusian News” reports.

Who eats this

Belarus exports products to 64 countries around the world, Russia being its major consumer.

Last year Belarus sold abroad products for $ 3 billion 596.3 million (13.5% of total exports of goods). In January-August this year, food exports increased to 14.7% and amounted to $ 2 billion 229.4 million.
