Belarus Labor Minister forecasts wages for 2018

The average annual salary of Belarusians in 2018 will amount to 921-941 rubles. Its size depends on the scenario of economic development, Belarus Minister of Labor and Social Protection Iryna Kastsevich said recently during the discussion of the budget laws.

At the same time, Iryna Kastsevich clarified that in the real sector the average salary “will certainly exceed 1,000 rubles”, recalling that public sector wages are 80% of the real sector wages.

In April 2017, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the salary of 1,000 rubles is “the minimum that the state should help people make”.

However, so far, there is a growing income lag in the 1,000 ruble schedule.

“In January-September, this gap was 25.4 rubles, or 3.1%,” said earlier Prime Minister Andrei Kabyakou. In January-August, it amounted to 14 rubles.

Earlier, Iryna Kastsevich recalled that not every working Belarusian would get an average salary of 1,000 rubles.

In November this year, Alyaksandr Lukashenka admitted that at the beginning of 2018, there would be more output, respectively, people would work less and may receive a salary below the planned level.
