Belarus Health Ministry: 14,500 people currently on coronavirus control


According to Deputy Health Minister Natallia Zhukava, about 14,500 people who may have had contact with coronavirus infected people are now “under control”. The statement was made at a joint briefing of the Ministry of Health and the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, TUT.BY reports.

At the briefing, the representative of the Ministry of Health stressed that preventive measures help to curb the spread of the virus.

As of March 4th, about 14,500 people were under the coronavirus control of the Ministry of Health. These are people who were among the infected or came from countries with coronavirus outbreaks.

During the press conference, Natallia Zhukava stressed that the Ministry of Health does not plan to propose closing the borders and preventing international contacts. For now, the Ministry of Health considers it appropriate only to postpone mass events to later dates.

Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Dapkiunas said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had established a working group to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
