Belarus Foreign Ministry staff cut by a third

According to Uladzimir Makei, the central MFA office staff has been cut by a third and foreign offices by 15% in an optimization effort.

“We received a task to make use of the abilities, not quantity. As a result, today the central MFA office staff has been significantly reduced. But this does not in any way suggests that the working efficiency is reduced. On the contrary, we have built the structure of our central unit so that it can effectively solve the tasks set by the head of state,” Makei told reporters.

A similar approach applies to foreign offices.

“This year we will optimize their operations. Several foreign offices will be closed,” the head of the Foreign Ministry said. He added that more attention will be paid to the countries, where cooperation brings a greater return.
