Belarus extends visa-free regime to 30 days

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has signed a decree extending the term of visa-free stay of foreigners in Belarus to 30 days, provided that they enter and exit the country via the Minsk airport.

The list of states whose citizens have the right to use the “visa-free regime” was also updated: it excluded countries with which Belarus had previously concluded bilateral agreements on the mutual abolition of visas. For visa-free entry to Belarus, foreigners need to have a valid passport or an ID, money (in the amount of 50 basic units or 1,125 BYN for 30 days), an insurance policy for not less than 10 thousand euros.

For citizens of Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, India, Lebanon, Namibia and Samoa, an obligatory condition is the presence in the passport of the multiple entry Schengen visa with an entry stamp into the territory of the EU countries, as well as air tickets with confirmation of departure from the National Airport Minsk within 30 days from the date of entry.

At the same time, “visa-free” regime does not apply to persons arriving to Belarus with flights from Russia, as well as planning to fly to Russia, since there are no border controls on such flights. The new “visa-free” travel does not cover foreigners who travel to Belarus for employment, business and training, the duration of which exceeds 30 days.

Since the introduction of the five-day visa-free regime for citizens of 80 countries, more than 100,000 tourists visited Belarus last February.

This is a significant figure, since just last year almost 300 thousand people stayed in our country. And the state’s revenue from the provision of services to the tourists was about $ 82 million.
