Belarus Education Minister comments on school year changes

In an interview with Belarus 1, Education Minister Ihar Karpenka said that the work plan of the schools would remain unchanged.

Minister Karpenka said that the school year would end on May 30, as planned, while the admission campaign could be postponed.

“We want the classrooms to have fewer people than before. We will strengthen the sanitary treatment of these premises. We are currently launching electronic registration, it will simplify the situation, there will be no need to take up the centralized tests several times during the registration,” Education Minister said.

Also, Ihar Karpenka said that the final exams and the centralized tests will not change. Whether there will be a new format of graduation parties will become clear by the end of May.

According to the head of the Education Ministry, a single platform for schoolchildren will be created in Belarus by the end of the year, which will allow people to remotely “familiarize” themselves with additional materials and developments of teachers.

On April 25, Belarusian teachers asked the Ministry of Education to reconsider the “non-constructive approach” to the certification of the fourth quarter. It affected the students studying remotely with the help of information and communication technologies during the pandemic. The Ministry posted his reply in Telegram.
