Belarus and Uruguay to agree on visa-free regime

Deputy Foreign Minister Yauhen Shastakou said that Belarus and Uruguay are discussing visa-free travel for ordinary passports.

“Prompt establishment of a visa-free regime between the two countries would greatly facilitate the creation of additional conditions for contacts between our citizens and the development of trade and economic opportunities, tourist and cultural potential of Belarus and Uruguay. In our opinion, this issue is totally in the interests of both parties,” said Yauhen Shastakou.

The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the issue will be resolved in the near future.

Uruguay’s ambassador to Russia and Belarus Enrique Juan Delgado Gento, in turn, reminded that earlier a similar agreement was signed regarding visa-free trips on diplomatic, service and official passports.

“We are on the verge of signing this agreement for holders of ordinary passports. This agreement is fundamental for the bilateral relations and will guarantee a successful cultural and tourist exchange,” he said.
