As ordered by president: Science Academy in search of electric car innovators

The National Academy of Sciences is trying to attract new inventors by stimulating the ‘intellectual and innovation activity in creating new technologies for electric transport’.

The competition Electric Car is expected to be held on a permanent basis. This year, one can submit their application till 15 October. The winners will get diplomas and cash prizes.

As reported earlier, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka wants Belarus to be in the forefront of the electric transport development.

“We have experts involved in the development of electric vehicles in the Academy of Science. And if you offer consultation and help us in some way, or we team up with you to release of such a car in Belarus, I will be very grateful. When you come to us next time, we will drive this electric car together,” Lukashenka told Chinese partners at the official opening of Bel Gee car factory.

In August 2017, Lukashenka ordered Belarusian developers of electric cars to strive for Tesla’s standards.

“It is the future. We should not fall behind. We should not lag behind with our competences and scientific standards. In the near future nobody will want to buy combustion engine vehicles like hot cakes the way it was in the past. Compare this car to what we have created and aspire for these standards,” he said at Thursday’sgovernment conference to discuss the development of the Belarusian automobile engineering industry.
