Artist Mikhal Anempadystau dead at 53


On the night of January 23rd, the artist fell asleep at the computer. It was a stroke. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Mikhal was one of the founders of the Belarusian rock-poetry, the author of iconic Belarusian songs. He was also a designer, graphic artist, poet, writer, photographer.

Mikhal was born in Minsk on March 16th, 1964. He studied in the Minsk Art School (1979-1983), he was also a member of the “Artisan” group. Mikhal was particularly interested in poster, applied and easel graphics, photography, and graphic design.

The artist was a member of the Belarusian Union of Designers. His works were first exhibited in 1987, and his first solo exhibition was held in 1993 in Berlin.

Mikhal Anempadystau created the concept of the “People’s Album,” he was involved in the creation of the images and lyrics of the project, he designed the cover (as well as the cover of “Belsat” project “People’s Album. 20 years. later.”).

Mikhal Anempadystau created imagery for our programs, he developed a proprietary design of our calendars and posters of our films.
