Belarus Ambassador in Yerevan was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry.

Ihar Nazaruk met with deputy head of the diplomatic department of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan, who expressed to the Belarusian ambassador his profound astonishment of the Armenian side in connection with a number of provisions contained in the statement of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry in connection with the events in Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to the Armenian side, this statement is not in line with the spirit of the Armenian-Belarusian relations and is detrimental to the negotiation process, as it encourages the use of force in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The statement the Foreign Ministry of Belarus said that our country has consistently advocated a peaceful solution to the conflict in accordance with the principles and norms of international law, above all through the preservation and maintenance of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders, as well as the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and decisions of the OSCE.

“We urge the parties to immediately cease fire and to avoid any actions that lead to an increase in tension and casualties. We hope that the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, with the support of all friendly countries to Azerbaijan and Armenia, will use their authority and influence to ensure de-escalation and return to find a solution to the Karabakh problem at the negotiating table,” says the statement of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
