The Day of Belarusian Military Glory coincided with the 9th day after the death of ‘Taras’ – Belarusian volunteer Ales Charkashyn. In honor of all Belarusian soldiers today – the video premiere of the song by Ales Charkashyn “Do not give up!”
“I met Ales at the front in Peski during the filming of the movie Bilorus. He was a happy, cheerful man, a believer. He once picked up the guitar, and then I heard another draft version of the song “Do not Give Up”, it strongly affected me, – says documentary filmmaker Antos Tsyalezhnikau. I offered to make it a sound track of my film. Ales readily agreed. A few months later the song was recorded in the studio.”
According to Antos Tsyalezhnikau, the idea to make a video for the song appeared after the presentation of the film: “I edited it from the unused parts of the movie footage, I then showed Ales the rough cut, he liked it, and I thought of making a presentation with his participation. The last contact with him was on 6 August, I promised him that there would soon be a presentation of the clip. Two days later, he was wounded in battle near Staragnatavka. The last line of the song “Do not Give Up”, unfortunately, turned out to be prophetic…

On August 28, Ales went to the Kingdom come. I found rare footage with his face, he was adamant about being on camera, worrying about the safety of his relatives and friends in Belarus. The clip was re-edited… I would like it to be presented on September 8, the Day of Belarusian Military Glory, where there is now a place for our Belarusian hero – Ales Charkashyn. “
