Fuel prices increased by 5 -12%

The main reason for cost improvement is the necessity of «gradual bringing the country’s prices of goods closer to those in the rest of the Customs Union», the press office of the Belarusian State Petrochemical Industry Concern (Belnaftakhim) said.

According to the information provided by Belnaftakhim press office, now Normal-80 gasoline costs 6,050 BYR per litre (+650 BYR, or 12 %), 92 octane gasoline – 6,300 BYR (+300 BYR, or 5 %), 95 octane gasoline – 6,800 BYR (+350 BYR, or 5,4 %), diesel fuel – 6,950 BYR (+350 BYR, or 5,3 %).

Even after the increase, the fuel prices in Belarus remain 15 to 18 percent lower than in the Russian Federation, Belnaftakhim points out.

Last year motor fuel prices were raised 11 times, with Normal-80 gasoline increasing in price by 2.4 times, 92 octane gasoline by 1.99 times, 95 octane gasoline by 1.88 times and diesel fuel by 2.44 times.

* $1 = 8,180 BYR, 1 euro = 10,700 BYR, currency rate of the National Bank of Belarus, April 11, 2012
