Antisemitic act of vandalism in Babruysk

Unknown perpetrators attacked a synagogue last night in Babruysk. Windows were smashed, walls painted and a fence was damaged.

Shaul Hababo, the local rabbi told Bielpan news agency that it there have been already a two attacks on the synagogue within one week. On Wednesday night vandals painted a swastika and antisemitic slogans on the walls. The two incidents were reported to the local police.

Behind those attacks is probably a group of young men with antisemitic views, thinks the rabbi. He also added that it was the first time since he came to Belarus two years ago that he has witnessed antisemitic acts. The local Jewish community wants to fix the broken windows, but will leave the antisemitic inscriptions to remind about the incident until the perpetrators are found.
