Prosecution demands death penalty in trial of April 11th attackers

Prosecutor has demanded death penalty for two defendants Dzimitry Kanavaw and Uladzislaw Kavaliow in a trial held in Minsk in case of bomb attack in metro on April 11th, which left hundreds injured and 15 people dead. During his last speech, the prosecutor upheld terrorism charges.

On April 11th at 5.45 pm a bomb exploded at Oktyabraskaya metro station in Minsk city center. Eleve people were killed on the spot, and 4 died in hospitals due to the injuries.

Belarus is the last country in Europe were death penalty is still executed. The convicts are killed by a shot in a back of the head, as it was practiced under soviet regimes.
