Labiedzka’s court case resumed

The investigative department of Minsk police informed about resuming a suspended criminal case against Anatol Liabiedzka, one of the leading Belarusian dissidents and a chairman of the United Civic Party.

Liabiedzka is accused of organizing riots during the December 19th, 2010 demonstration against election fraud. He was released from the arrest and the investigation was suspended in spring this year.

In his opinion, Belarusian regime resumed his case in preparation for expected strengthening of the social protest in autumn. Liabiedzka thinks that the objective is to get rid of the opposition leaders. – For me personally, it means that I will be a political hostage for an indefinite time period – he commented.

The head of UCPB still has his passport held by the KGB. When asked if he will try to have it returned, he said he exploited all the options. – I realized that talking to our institution is like talking to a wall. – Liabiedzka concluded.
