Belarusian law enforcement officers gave drugs to migrants to ease border crossing, Poland says

On September 27th, at the press conference, Stanislaw Zaryn, press secretary of the Minister-coordinator of Special Services of Poland, disclosed information about strange pills, which migrants get from Belarusian law enforcement officers to “survive” illegal crossing of the border with Poland.

According to him, the Polish authorities received such data from their colleagues in Lithuania.

“The Belarusians gave methadone to one of these groups [of migrants] there,” said Stanisław Żaryn.

When migrants were given unknown substances, they were explained that it would “help them survive the border crossing.”

The head of the Interior Ministry, Mariusz Kaminski, added:

“We received very accurate information from the Lithuanian services. This situation occurred on July 22 near Druskininkai, where Lithuanian border guards arrested a group of 15 citizens of Iraq and the Russian Federation of Chechen origin. The group included two children, aged 6 and 1.5 years.

After the arrest, the parents told the Lithuanian border guards that they could not wake the children and asked for help. Describing the circumstances, they said that one of the Belarusian border guards, who accompanied them to the border, gave them two pills for the children so they “wouldn’t cry when crossing the border,” said Mariusz Kaminski.

The children were hospitalized in time and saved.

Also, the Polish Interior Ministry head said that he would apply for an extension of the state of emergency in the country, justifying this step by the tense situation on the Polish-Belarusian border due to the migration crisis, facilitated by Lukashenka’s regime.
