British medical drugs manufacturer refuses to advertise on Belarusian state TV

The British manufacturer of OTC medicines “Mentholatum” stopped advertising its products on the Belarusian state television a month ago.

After the Belarusian diaspora in Scotland held a rally outside its head office, the company announced this on Twitter.

“Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, we take these issues very seriously. We are currently conducting an internal investigation and have found that the ad was aired more than a month ago by our distributor in that region and is no longer being shown,” the company said.

“Mentholatum” later added that all future advertising campaigns in the region are also being evaluated.

Earlier, the German concern Henkel, producer of well-known cosmetics and detergents, said that it planned to give up advertising on Belarusian state TV channels because of human rights violations in the country.
