The human rights center “Viasna” informs that the political prisoners Viktoria and Anastasia Mirontsau have been placed on a preventive registry in Homiel colony # 4. Before that, they were on the register as “prone to extremist activity.”

Andrei Sharendo told Reform.by about similar measures against his wife and activist Palina Sharenda-Panasyuk. He said that three reports were drawn up on Palina and she was kept in the penal cell until mid-September.

It is well-known that many political prisoners behind bars are placed on a preventive register as persons “prone to extremism and other destructive actions”. Such status provides for increased control on the part of the administration. In the colony, they must wear yellow tags – this is the color used to designate persons allegedly “prone to extremism. The status of “person prone to hostage-taking, assault on the administration, hooliganism” provides for an even more rigid level of control over the prisoner.

In April 2021, Anastasia Mirontsava was sentenced to 2 years in prison and Viktoria Mirontsava to 2.5 years in prison. In June, Palina Charenda-Panasyuk was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
