Minsk judge Volha Malashenka has announced a verdict in the criminal case of Aleh Korban, leader of the “Alternatyva” public initiative, on April 23, reports HRC Viasna.

He was accused of organizing and preparing actions, grossly violating public order, or active participation in them (Article 342 of the Criminal Code).

Aleh Korban was arrested after a search in his apartment on October 25 and given 15 days of arrest for participation in an unsanctioned mass event. He was then transferred to the TDF 1.

On the evening of April 23, Aleh Korban wrote on his Facebook page:

“A miracle happened, today I was released! The court sentenced me to a 1.5-year restriction of liberty. Details will come later; now, I begin to adapt to your freedom.

P.S. Big thanks to all who supported my family and me.”
