Four detained residents of Zhodzina go on hunger strike

The men detained in a private sauna on the evening of April 24 are protesting against the absurd accusations of participation in an unsanctioned mass event.

On April 24, law enforcers sieged a private bathhouse in Zhodzina, detaining 13 women and 7 men. They were accused of having “organized an unauthorized mass event with the use of protest symbols. All of those present were detained and taken to the police department, where reports were filed under Article 24.23 of the Code of Administrative Offences.”

According to the Human Rights Center “Viasna,” four detained men – Alyaksandr Kavaliou, Yauhen Shalepen, Stanislau Repkin, and Yauhen Litsvinau – went on hunger strike. They are protesting against being charged with participating in a mass event and resisting the police.
