A new criminal case against underage Mikita Zalatarou has been sent to the prosecutor to be sent to court.

The 17-year-old political prisoner is accused of assaulting an employee of detention center #3 under Article 364 of the Criminal Code. According to the case, Mikita “deliberately tripped the employee Luchkin, who fell to the floor as a result, and when he got up, he put Mikita against the wall, but the teenager grabbed Luchkin by the hair and neck, causing physical pain and beatings to the victim, and also expressed a threat to use violence on the employee Haubok and her relatives.”

“I believe this is a provocation done on purpose. My son has epilepsy. They purposely didn’t give him medication, and he gets irritable. He should not be in jail but treated in a hospital. They have some psychologist’s office there, but it’s all bullshit to tick a box on paper. But no one knows what’s really going on there,” said Mikhail Lapunou, Mikita’s father.

According to Mikhail, the guards started dragging Mikita out of the cell by his hands; the guy could have grabbed for something or accidentally done something: “He weighs 50 kilograms, what damage could he do? Maybe if he was being dragged, his foot got caught somewhere. But the point is that he’s a political prisoner, and it’s clearly an order from above: to put pressure on everyone who has political status, who opened his mouth in any way, that he is against it. Everyone is crushed to the end.”

Mikhail Lapunou stressed that this attitude towards the teenager is beyond humanity:

On February 22nd, in Homiel court, Mikita was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment in an educational colony on a criminal case involving Molotov cocktails. The teenager pleaded not guilty, and after the verdict was announced, he got hysterical: he threw himself on the bars and asked to be let out.

Mikita Zalatarou has epilepsy. He has repeatedly complained to his father about the brutal beatings – even a stun gun was used. Mikita also said in court that he was not given any pills in the detention center: “The guard said that I am a political prisoner and I will die there.”
