Over 300 laws needed for 'deeper integration' of Belarus and Russia

In 2022, the authorities are planning to develop only 28 draft laws. While the “deepening of integration” with Russia requires 10-15 times more.

The parliaments of Belarus and Russia have to adopt from 300 to 400 laws to implement 28 “programs of deeper integration,” adopted on November 4, said the deputy head of the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Artem Turov, BelTA informs.

The Belarusian authorities are planning to prepare 10-15 times fewer bills for 2022: a total of 28 bills, including the “all-Belarusian assembly” act not directly related to the “deepening of integration.

In theory, draft laws of the Union State can be prepared without the participation of Belarus. Deputies of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic have the right to introduce their own draft law without a schedule (but they very rarely do it), as well as groups of citizens who collect at least 50 thousand signatures.

On December 23, the participants of the “parliamentary assembly of the Union State” meeting adopted a draft budget for the next year and adjusted the budget for the current year. They also increased the number of standing committees from 8 to 12. It is not reported whether this is connected with the “deepening of integration.”
