Online resources of Radio Liberty in Belarus recognized as 'extremist formation'


On December 23, the Interior Ministry recognized a group of citizens united through online resources of “Radio Liberty” as “an extremist formation,” reported the press service of the ministry.

Earlier this month, a Minsk court declared the Telegram channel, the social feeds of Radio Liberty and the YouTube channel as “extremist materials.” This happened the day after the U.S. imposed sanctions against the Belarusian regime involved in the migration crisis.

Later it also emerged that a criminal case was filed against Radio Liberty journalist Andrey Kuznechyk.

Earlier, two more independent Belarusian mass media outlets were recognized as “extremist formations”: BelaPAN starting from November 12th and Belsat from November 3rd.
