Bloggers detained in Minsk and Brest


Detentions continue in Belarus. A YouTube-blogger Ruslan Linnik was arrested in Minsk. Deputy Chairman of the regional organization of Belarusian Social Democratic Party and blogger Syarhei Mazan was detained in Lenin Square in Brest.

Human rights activists point out that the reasons for the detention are still unknown. YouTube-blogger Ruslan Linnik, who has more than 90 thousand subscribers on his channel, was behind bars. Ruslan was taken to the TDF on Akrestsin Street, but the reason for his detention is unclear.

Deputy chairman of the regional organization of Belarusian Social Democratic Party and blogger Syarhei Mazan was detained on Lenin Square in Brest. According to Hanna Kanius, head of the Brest branch of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party of Belarus, Syarhei called his office and said he had been detained. The law enforcers, who seized him, showed their drug control IDs. At present he is unavailable.

In Mahiliou, Alyaksei Batsiukou, former director of the , was summoned for “conversation”. But he was interviewed by an employee of Leninski District Department of Internal Affairs, who filled out some kind of questionnaire.

The questions included the following: did Batsiukou resign from the museum, or was he fired? The policeman also asked if his contract was terminated for political reasons.
