Uladzislau Ustsin, 22, of Minsk, was previously sentenced to 3 years of “chemistry” or freedom restriction for violence against a police officer, reports “Viasna.”

He was arrested during a spontaneous rally on July 14, 2020, in Minsk, beaten in a police truck, and sent behind bars, but the next morning he was released without charges. On July 16, he was detained again and convicted for pushing a riot policeman.

Prosecutor Artsyom Tsvyatkou had asked to punish the 21-year-old Ustsin with restriction of liberty for three years by sending him to an open-type correctional facility. On November 25th, Central district court judge Viktoryia Shabunya passed such a sentence.

On 21 March 2021, Uladzislau was sent to open-type correctional facility #7 in Pruzhany district.

According to human rights activists, Ustsin is now outside of Belarus.
