Ukraine starts mobilization of reservists

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the conscription of reservists of the Armed Forces, RBC-Ukraine reported, citing an address by Zelensky. Soon, there will also be a training camp for reservists of territorial defense.

Volodymyr Zelensky has stressed that the call of reservists is not a general mobilization. He sees no need for it now.

“We need to promptly and additionally staff the Ukrainian army and other military formations. As commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, I have issued a decree on the conscription of reservists in a special period. I emphasize that we are talking only about citizens assigned to the operational reserve,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

The President of Ukraine also noted that the reservists must increase the readiness of the Ukrainian army for all possible changes and that shortly, there will be training camps for reservists of the territorial defense system.

Previously, Zelensky noted that Ukraine would introduce martial law only in case of a large-scale war with Russia.

On February 21, Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of the DNR and LNR, which formed on Ukrainian territory in 2014 during an armed conflict and declared themselves republics. Ukraine does not recognize the DNR and LNR and considers them terrorist and separatist entities organized and armed by Russia.
