EU preparing new individual sanctions against Belarus

The European Union is preparing a new list of sanctions against Belarus, as well as measures to support the Belarusian opposition, TASS reports, citing the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.

“In Belarus we can see the continuation of repression, so we have decided to begin developing new individual sanctions and measures to support civil society,” said Josep Borrell.

Earlier, former presidential candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya said she considered European sanctions against Alyaksandr Lukashenka‘s regime insufficient.

“There are only 90 people under sanctions. This is a mockery, and Lukashenka’s regime is laughing,” Tsikhanouskaya said.
