Political leader Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya has called on Belarusians to take part in the referendum voting. She explained what should be done to show attitude towards the measures organized by Lukashenka.

Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya said the following about the referendum:

“We understand that it is an attempt to hold on to power, but it does not solve in any way the political, economic or humanitarian crisis in our country, nor the problems of the people. It is not a choice of for or against. It is a choice between Lukashenka and Lukashenka. And this is not what the Belarusians have fought for and still fight for”.

According to Tsikhanouskaya, the other day, her Office, the Coordinating Council, and the People’s Anti-Crisis Management sent letters to all international partners urging them not to recognize the “referendum” and to support the demands of Belarusians for the release of political prisoners and holding of new presidential elections, as well as to increase pressure on the regime in case of continued repression.

For the time of the campaign, there will be created an operative staff of democratic forces. It will include political structures and civil initiatives. “Golos will count votes, Honest People will provide informational support, Zubr will document violations, and BYPOL will provide informational security. Close cooperation with diasporas is also planned.

“We are doing all this primarily to support the actions of the Belarusians in Belarus,” said the politician.

She called on the Belarusians to come to the polling stations and make two marks in the ballot papers to make them invalid by crossing out all the suggested options:

“There is one question on the ballot papers. Both options should be crossed out: both for and against. And this action should be confirmed on the “Golos” platform. It will allow us to show the real situation at each polling station in each city.”

Tsikhanouskaya stressed that such actions are the only legal way for everyone to express their attitude toward Lukashenka’s system.

“Every one of you who still has ideas on how to use an illegitimate ‘referendum’ to show the will of the people, every one of you who is ready to engage tightly in the strategy and prepare for February 27, is our ally, and we would love to have you with us. Write to us and join us,” Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya said to Belarusians.
