Lukashenka wants to stop air traffic from Ukraine

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has decided to respond to Kyiv’s closure of Ukrainian airspace for Belarusian planes.

Visiting the 2nd Children’s Clinical Hospital in Minsk on June 19, Lukashenka said:

“Since Ukraine has closed the flight zone to us, we will simply not accept planes from Ukraine,” his press service reports.

Ukraine recently suspended air traffic with Belarus on May 26. In particular, Ukrainian companies and aircraft were banned from flying in the airspace of Belarus.

And on May 29, Ukraine strengthened its “air sanctions” against the official Minsk. Then transit flights of Belarusian aircraft in the Ukrainian airspace were also banned.

All this was a response to the forced landing in Minsk of the Athens-Vilnius flight, on which the blogger Raman Pratasevich was flying.
