Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with a Ukrainian MP on April 20. The Verkhovna Rada did not appreciate this event.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka hopes that his meeting with the people’s deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Yevgeniy Shevchenko, will be a good signal and contribute to the development of relations between the two countries. According to him, “there are still people in Ukraine who respect Belarus.”

“I am very honored to meet you. I’ve long dreamed of meeting you,” Lukashenka’s press service quotes Shevchenko.

Yevgeniy Shevchenko is a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the ruling “Servant of the People” faction. “But at the talks with Lukashenka, he acted as a private person, not as a representative of Ukraine,” said Deputy Head of the faction Alexander Kornienko, reports LIGA.net.

According to Kornienko, such a meeting is a personal initiative of the deputy. The deputy head of the faction noted that “Servant of the People” will demand explanations from Shevchenko.
