Belarusian Central Bank can impose currency restrictions


Along with the government of Belarus, the National Bank now has the right to impose fx restrictions in case of a threat to the country’s economic security. This possibility has been introduced by a new decree of Lukashenka, his press service reports.

There have been some changes relating to currency regulation and currency control in Belarus after Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the relevant decrees. Now the National Bank can introduce currency restrictions along with the government for a period not exceeding one year in cases of threats to economic security and stability of the financial system of Belarus.

In addition, the legislation simplifies certain procedures regulating currency operations.
