U.S. and EU sanctions have had a disastrous effect on Belaruskali. It has emerged that the third of five mine departments has suspended its operations.

“The management tells staff it is all due to repair work and promises to get back to normal,” said the employees.

The plant ships small batches, which “they try to send via Russia, as the potassium mathematics now allows earning even in this way” the power of the two mines is enough.

“Belaruskali for the first time has turned to one of the state banks for a loan to finance the payment of employees’ salaries,” say sources from the company.

Because of the enterprise’s difficult situation, Lukashenka appointed arms trade specialist Alyaksei Skraha, who used to head Belspetsveshtehnika as the head of Belaruskali.
