Men sentenced to jail and women fined as Maladzechna skiers get punished for ‘unsanctioned rally’

The punishments of the skiers, detained near Maladzechna on February 14, have been revealed. “Regiyanalnaya Gazeta” has reported on their sentences.

Seven men received 15 days in jail, while one got 20. Two women were also sentenced to 15 days in jail, while the other nine were fined from 25 to 30 basic units. All of them were tried in the building of Maladzechna police department.

On February 14th , around noon the police detained 19 skiers near Maladzechna. They went out of town with their skiing gear, where they were surrounded by law enforcers and taken to a Maladzechna police department. They were accused of participating in an unsanctioned mass event.

“A group of about 20 people gathered under the guise of skiing and held an unauthorized rally using WRW symbols. The active participants of the event, 11 women and 8 men, were detained and taken to the district department for investigation,” the Interior Ministry commented on the incident.
