During a so-called dialogue platform in Staubtsy, Minister of Culture of Belarus Anatol Markevich said that 300 employees with a “destructive position” had been dismissed from cultural institutions.
“I do not hide the fact that we have been carrying out and are carrying out serious activities involving our employees, workers who have taken a destructive stance. My deep conviction is that it is not possible to sit on two chairs. It is inadmissible. At the end of the day, one has to make up one’s mind. For this reason, more than 300 people from our teams have been dismissed. And I think it’s right,” said Minister of Culture Anatoli Markevich.
“Last year alone, almost half of the middle management staff was dismissed from the Ministry of Culture. To become undesirable for today’s leadership, it is enough to have your own opinion and professional principles,” commented Natalia Zadzyarkouskaya, responsible for the People’s Crisis Management’s culture and national heritage issues, speaking on the latest dismissals.
