20% of Minsk metro cars need replacement

Representatives of the Minsk metro spoke of obsolete cars and the ban on selfies in the metro.

Out of the 360 metro cars in Minsk, 68 have been operating there from the opening day, ie more than 30 years. The old-timers have long expired, admitted at a press conference Deputy Director of the State Enterprise “Minsk Metro” Aleg Kruhlou.

According to him, last year, 60 cars were modernized, which prolonged their service life up to 2020. Currently, the company plans to continue upgrading old cars or buy new ones.

Another statement, which was made at the press conference, had to do with selfies in the metro. According to the press-secretary Andrei Kuzmin, the ban on selfies stays.

“Minsk metro, with all due respect to other modes of transport, is a more special kind of the transport infrastructure. Why was it decided to prohibit photography in the capital’s metro? Sometimes people go beyond the limits. As a result, in social networks, on various Internet resources appeared photos that showed the Minsk metro in a very unfavorable light,” said Andrey Kuzmin.
