International Secretary of Belarusian Social Democratic Party sentenced to 10 days in jail


On November 18, International Secretary of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Valyantsin Askirka was sentenced to 10 days in jail.

As chairman of the party Ihar Barysau reported on Facebook, the sentence was handed down by the Leninski district court of Hrodna under Article 24.23 of the Administrative Code (“Violation of the order or organization of a mass event”).

“Information about the trial was not available to either relatives or friends,” said Barysau.

The international secretary of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) Valyantsin Askirka was detained in Hrodna on November 16 at a private school where he taught.
