108 protesters charged in 'round dance' case in Brest

The Investigative Committee of the Brest region had announced that they had identified 115 people involved in the events of September 13, 2020, when people gathered in a circle at the intersection of the roadways in the center of Brest.

A total of 108 protesters have been charged. They are charged under part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code (“Active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order, resulting in the disruption of transport and businesses”).

Criminal cases against 88 people involved in the “protest round dance” were sent to court, and 70 people in the “round dance case” were already convicted.

On September 13th of last year, another protest rally took place in Brest. People marched along the streets of Brest, forming a round dance.

A water cannon arrived to disperse the ring, which was used for the first time during the protests in Belarus. Since then, Brest residents have called this intersection “water cannon,” The initiated criminal case became known as “roundhouse.”
