Tsikhanouskaya's office: Belarus is being dragged into someone else's war and turned into aggressor country

According to the office of Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the Russian troops are left in Belarus under the guise of military drill extension.

The office states that the Belarusians were deceived when promised to withdraw the troops after February 20, and Lukashenka “lost his independence in decision-making.”

“The presence of Russian troops on our territory violates our Constitution, international law, and endangers the security of every Belarusian and the entire region. Belarus is being drawn into someone else’s war and turned into an aggressor country. Lukashenka is paying for the Kremlin’s support of sovereignty – and now we see the consequences,” reads the statement.

Tsikhanouskaya’s office believes that even supporters of the regime, including officers of the Belarusian army who want to defend the independence and sovereignty of Belarus, now understand this.

“We demand the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from our territory. We will insist that this issue be submitted to the UN Security Council. We have already sent letters to EU countries with proposals of new strong sanctions, which hit the regime, not the people.

We will consult with our neighbors, the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Whatever Lukashenka’s next step against Belarusian sovereignty will lead to the most severe consequences,” emphasizes Tsikhanouskaya’s office.

The Russian-Belarusian exercise “Union Resolve 2022” was supposed to end today, February 20. But Belarusian Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin said that the inspection of the Union State’s response forces would continue due to “an increase in military activity near the external borders of the Union State and the aggravation of the situation in Donbas.”
