In total, the number of internally displaced people and those who fled to other countries is nearly 9.8 million, which is more than 23 percent of the country’s population.

According to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Russian invasion of Ukraine resulted in 2,149 civilian casualties. Among them, 816 people were killed.

It is likely that the actual number of casualties is higher as violent clashes continue in Ukraine. The situation in Mariupol is worsening. Local authorities report more than 2,350 dead. But the real number of victims could be twice as high, according to the UN.
