According to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the exercise practiced the use of nuclear weapons.

The day before Putin spoke about these military maneuvers at a meeting with Lukashenka in Moscow:

“We will talk about the regional situation, assess how military cooperation is going. There is an active phase of military exercises now. We will even participate in one of the major events together”.

On February 17, during his visit to the Asipovichy training ground, Lukashenka denied the words of Belarus Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei, who said that all Russian soldiers would leave the territory of Belarus after the military exercises. According to Lukashenka, they will be in Belarus “as long as necessary.”

“As we will decide with Putin tomorrow, so it will be,” he added.
