British Foreign Office urges UK citizens to avoid Belarus

The Ministry advises its citizens to avoid visiting such cities as Yelsk, Mazyr, Rechitsa, Luninets, Homiel, Asipovichy, Baranavichy, and Brest.

“Since January 2022, the build-up of Russian forces on Ukraine’s borders, including within Belarus, has increased the threat of military action. In the event of military action taking place, our ability to offer consular assistance will be limited,” the Foreign Office wrote in a statement.

Other places in Belarus are recommended to visit only in urgent need.

Another piece of advice is to consider the coronavirus situation. “You’ll need to have valid medical insurance before traveling to Belarus. You’ll be asked to provide proof of your insurance when you apply for your visa or on arrival at Minsk, Brest, Vitsebsk, Homiel, Hrodna, and Mahiliou airports under the 30-day visa-free regime,” the Foreign Office urges.
