Ukraine not to bring troops into Crimea

Kyiv won’t make attempts to stop Crimea’s occupation by force of arms, Oleksandr Turchinov, Ukraine’ acting president, said. Meanwhile, Russian media report that Crimea will become a republic of the Russian Federation.

Not to expose their eastern borders to a risk they decided against bringing troops into Crimea, Mr Turchinov told France Press. ‘What they call a referendum will be held in the Kremlin, not in Crimea,’ he added.

A secret understanding on Crimea’s joining Russia has been already reached, Russian Gazeta.ru says referring to its own sources. Crimea might be turned into a republic having two official languages: Russian and Crimean Tatar.

Crimean Tatars declared their intention to boycott the referendum scheduled on March 16.
