According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, in one of the Youtube videos, the suspect Andrei Pavuk “while being in Lithuania, publicly insulted an employee of the prosecutor’s office in Minsk.” (the video clip or song was not mentioned).

This action was qualified under article 369 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The article provides penalties from a fine to imprisonment for up to three years. The criminal case was sent to the Investigative Committee.

The prosecutor’s office did not mention what should be done with a citizen of Belarus, who is on the territory of another state. Still, it threatened: “Everyone who has committed a crime will be subject to a fair punishment.”

Andrei Pavuk is a blogger and activist from the village of Kastrychnitski (formerly Rudabelka). He became famous when he produced the meme song “I am from the village” in 2012. He appealed to local authorities on various occasions and about local problems, including his dismissal and inability to cope even as a janitor. He later started a video blog.

In October 2020, he left for Lithuania with his wife after Andrei’s ten days in jail and a subpoena to Volha, who was then an election observer. There he continued his blog, including a phone conversation with Belarusian officials. Together with the opera singer Marharyta Lyauchuk, he founded the parody musical duo “The Red Green.”

The most popular video of his blog has 410 thousand views, and the most popular song of the group, “Red Green,” has 888 thousand views:

Andrei Pavuk now hosts the “Shukher Show” program on Belsat.
