Belarus GDP growth loses steam


Gross domestic product in Belarus is up1.2% in the first two months of this year compared to the same period last year. In January-February this year, GDP amounted to nearly 28.1 billion BYN at current prices, Belstat reports.

In January this year, GDP increased by 2.7% compared to January last year. But at the end of January-February this year, and in comparison with last year’s figures, GDP growth collapsed to 1.2%. Thus, at the end of two months, the growth rate of the country’s economy collapsed by more than two times.

In money terms, GDP amounted to 28.076 billion BYN in the first two months of the current year.

This year, officials planned for a 2.9% GDP growth. Last year, the economy grew by 2.3%.
