Due to the high demand of farmers and the already imposed sanctions, the company is expected to have record sales of 13.7-14.3 million tons of potash this year. If restrictions on imports of products from Belarus have a more substantial impact on global supplies, production could also be expanded.

Last year, Nutrien increased potash sales to a record 13.6 million tons.

Uralkali will not buy Belaruskali

Meanwhile, the Russian potash producer Uralkali has no plans to buy potash assets in Belarus. Сhairman of the Board of Directors of Uralkhim, which owns Uralkali, said so while commenting on rumors that the company is considering to buy Belaruskali and Slavkali, which got under the U.S. sanctions last year.

“This is not true. We are not considering the development of potash assets outside the Perm region [Russia. – Belsat.eu]. “Our interests in the potash industry are concentrated only in this region,” Dmitry Konyayev, chairman of Uralchem’s board, Nasdaq reports.

According to him, Uralkali has not held any meetings with the Belarusian colleagues, and “any such proposals from the Belarusian side will not be considered.”

Due to the Western sanctions, Lithuania suspended transportation of Belarusian potash fertilizers through its territory on February 1.

Also, on February 16, Ukraine canceled the transit of Belaruskali and Belarusian Potash Company mineral fertilizers by rail.
