About 4K Iraqi citizens return home from Lithuania-Belarus border


According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, the government of Iraq had returned home about four thousand Iraqis, who had been trapped on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border, the news agency of Iraq reports.

This information emerged during the meeting of Hussein with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis.

According to the head of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, with the help of the EU countries, it was possible to return about four thousand Iraqis to their homeland. Some Iraqi citizens are still in Lithuania, and the authorities are waiting for their voluntary decision to return to Baghdad.

In turn, Landsbergis said that Lithuania and Iraq would continue to cooperate on migration issues. He reminded that Iraq was the first state to cancel flights to Belarus, used to organize irregular migration.
