Five more people recognized as political prisoners in Belarus


Representatives of the Belarusian human rights community have recognized five more people behind bars as political prisoners. All in all, there are 377 political prisoners in Belarus, reports HRC Viasna.

Five more people have been recently imprisoned for insulting the President, government officials (police officers), judges, and insulting state symbols. They are Alyaksandr Tsyakeha, Uladzislau Shynkovich, Syarhei Khavanski, Artsyom Kosach and Yauhen Lutski were.

Belarusian human rights activists demand the immediate release of all political prisoners and an end to political repression against citizens.

As of 16 May, 377 persons are political prisoners in our country.
